Excitement for the sixth main game in the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series is already at its peak: Although only a teaser video and occasional leaked information have been released, there are some interesting statements about GTA 6. Former Rockstar developer Obbe Vermeij claims the game will initially be disappointing.
Vermeij: “Rockstar Won’t Make the Same Impact with GTA 6 as They Did with the Fifth Game”
Famous producer Obbe Vermeij, who was part of the production team for almost all the main games at Rockstar from 1995 to 2009, spoke about expectations for this new game in an interview with the YouTube channel SanInPlay.
Vermeij claimed that Rockstar would not be able to make a significant leap with GTA 6 compared to previous games. The producer, who worked on games from GTA 3 to 4, said he doesn’t think the game will be much different from GTA 5 and that people might be a bit disappointed on the first day.
Emphasizing that he doesn’t have any inside information about GTA 6, Vermeij noted that the inevitable difficulties encountered during development would prevent a bigger experience than the adventures of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.
The producer added:
“Technology is advancing much more slowly now. The difference between PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 was huge, but the difference between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 is not that significant. So, you don’t have that technological leap to do things differently and better. Maybe they succeeded, maybe they did something incredible, but some people’s expectations might be a bit too high.”
As you can see, when it comes to Rockstar Games and GTA, even those who have been part of the game’s development team can be confused. The only thing we know is that GTA has never disappointed players with any of its main games. We’ll see how the game is received once it’s released.
